EDDIE FLORES UNLOCKS THE SECRETS TO ENTREPRENUERIAL SUCCESS
HONOLULU –Twenty-four enlightened students from Eddie Flores’ Keys to Success in Business completed a FREE four-day workshop and participated in a community service group project held at Hale Kipa on April 5, 2008.
This first ever FREE workshop is a collaborative community effort by Hawaii National Bank, The Limtiaco Company, Pacific Business News and L&L Drive-Inn® / L&L Hawaiian Barbecue®. Eddie Flores, Jr., President / CEO of L&L, shared his entrepreneurial success secrets where priority was given to businesses in economically depressed areas, entrepreneurs with limited resources, disadvantage groups, women and minorities.
Through series of sessions, the students learned techniques of salesmanship; impact marketing and what it can do for your business; rules of three principal schools of negotiation; and how to work as a team to coordinate the community project. Lastly, Eddie shared his secrets of his success.
Each two-hour session was taught by industry professionals. Stan Olayan, Director of Training at Sprint Hawaii, conducted “Keys to Salesmanship” which covered techniques of salesmanship, personal communication skills, building relationships, and utilizing body language. Eddie Flores taught the participants how to market themselves and their business with little or no money and to bring impact to their marketing efforts. Lou Chang, mediator and arbitrator, taught a session “Win, Win, Win in Negotiation”, where students learned principals of negotiation and how to be strategically effective in different situations.
Lastly, Eddie Flores shared his secrets of successful entrepreneurs and empowered the students with these words of wisdom: “Starting and managing a business takes motivation, desire and talent. It also takes research and planning. Like a chess game, success in business starts with decisive and correct opening moves. Although initial mistakes are not always fatal, it takes skill, discipline and hard work to regain the advantage”.
Sterling Nakano, of Sterling Consulting, expressed that “the gathering of such leaders as Stan, Lou and Eddie is priceless for small businesses such as ours”. The Eddie Flores’ Keys to Success in Business workshop will resume in March and April of 2009. |
