OVER 1,900 L&L 76-CENT PLATE LUNCHES SOLD FOR GOODWILL

HONOLULU – The 3rd annual L&L Drive-Inn®/L&L Hawaiian Barbecue® 76-cent Plate Lunch promotion sold over 1,900 regular-sized plate lunches on June 10, 2008 at the Ke’eaumoku Street (in Wal-Mart), Honolulu location. Approximately 1,900 customers stood in line that wrapped around the building. The first customer, Rod Nakamatsu waited since 5:30 AM for the cheap lunch deal. “I couldn’t sleep, so I just decided to walk down,” says Nakamatsu. “Last year, I was the 7th person in line.”
The initial ten customers in line were given a one-month supply of soda, courtesy of Pepsi Bottling Group of Hawaii. Over 100 lucky customers received free L&L T-shirts. “This has become one of our favorite events,” says Eddie Flores, Jr., President and CEO of L&L. “Not only are we able to thank our customers for their support year after year, but we’re also giving back to the community.” All proceeds from today’s sale will be donated to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. whose mission is to help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient.
This event is in commemoration of the first purchase of L&L Drive-Inn bought in 1976 by Eddie as a gift to his mother. Since then with its first location in Liliha, this Hawaii grown Franchise has expanded to over 185 locations nationwide. The latest opening is in American Samoa and a new location is scheduled open in New Zealand by next year.
