L&L in the
Community
Our commitment to the community is integral to our mission of spreading the spirit of aloha around the world.
Embeded into the brand by our founders, Eddie Flores and Johnson Kam, many of our franchisees, employees and stakeholders have contributed to this aspect of our business, and as a result to the overall success of the L&L brand.
We have been supportive of activities that promote a variety of areas including entrepreneurship, cultural diversity and education. From scholarships, participation in community events, and outreach to promote aloha in the communities, we are happy to see that our contributions have made a positive impact.
L&L Supports Maui Wildfire Relief Efforts through Purchase-A-Meal Program
Through the generosity of L&L customers franchise-wide, the L&L "Purchase a Meal" program was able to serve over 2,000 meals for residents and volunteers impacted by the Maui fires. From across the nation, we collectively shared our "Love for Lahaina" through the American Red Cross Hawai'i.
L&L Founder donates $2MM to former Hawaii Alma Mater
Eddie Flores, Jr. and wife Elaine made a $1 million gift to the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Eddie, an alumni of the school, presented this second $1 million gift with his wife to the college. In 2007, Flores established a scholarship endowment at the college. Their gift has provided more than 200 scholarships to undergraduate students.
L&L Sponsors Annual Shop with a Cop
Founder Johnson Kam and his wife Christina have made an annual tradition of supporting our local police department. For over 5 years, L&L has partnered with the Honolulu Police Department to help bring Holiday joy at the annual Keiki Shop with a Cop at the Keeaumoku Walmart L&L Location. L&L served breakfast and provided treats to over 100 attendees which includes children with their parent, police officers, and volunteers.
Dedicated to Diversity
Diversity is at the core of L&L through our business - our cuisine and our people.
Through a genuine and authentic sense of aloha, rooted in our home here in Hawaii, we reflect our pride in the diversity of this special place. The aloha spirit encompasses the unique sense of inclusion and hospitality that has developed here over decades of celebrating what makes us different, embracing what connects us, and practicing a common respect for each other.
Many of our franchise owners come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to live the American Dream and to live aloha every day through our restaurants. Additionally, numerous L&L employees throughout our franchise have been able to gain the confidence to thrive in a safe place that embraces differences, bringing it together through the aloha spirit.
For our efforts, L&L has been recognized as a leader in the local community. Recognition aside, L&L is proud to continue its commitment to celebrate this important piece of what makes our home of Hawaii and L&L special.
The Value of Supporting Education
L&L Hawaii sees the value in education and has supported numerous efforts to help such opportunities thrive.
Over the years, L&L has contributed over 3 million dollars in financial support, goodwill and other resources through the L&L Foundation and the individual L&L locations. Additionally, many L&L locations have helped our youth by providing extracurricular work opportunities that provide real-world experience to supplement their educational experience with the hope to nurture thriving and contributing members for the communities that L&L has locations. From scholarships, endowments, educational lectures, and other educational activities, L&L has demonstrated that a commitment to education is as robust and flexible as the minds of those working towards their educational goals.
